We are delighted to announce The Hive of Vyner St's 2nd Birthday Party!

For this very special occasion we want to take care of both your ears and your taste buds! We are expanding our horizons by moving into new territory- excellent music featuring Commix (Metalheadz) and The Preshaah (Horton Radio) alongside our resident natural wine and craft beer line up.

Free entry but limited capacity - we strongly advise you to get in touch and put your name on the guest list, this is an event that no one should miss!

Commix needs no introduction to the Drum & Bass world. Anyone into electronic music in 2007 will clearly remember the arrival of Commix’s debut album ‘Call To Mind’ released on Goldie’s historic label Metalheadz. The ambitious remix project titled Re:Call To Mind followed where a range of innovators were asked to reinterpret the tracks. Remixers on the project included Marcell Dettman, Burial and Underground Resistance. Commix's new sound represents freedom through musical expression, less samples and more hardware based creation with a focus on sound design to create a new and exciting musical attitude.
The Preshaah will also be DJing live across the night with the set streamed live on Hoxton Radio.

ORANGE WINE TASTING WITH LES CAVES DE PYRENE

On Friday the 16th June we'll be hosting an Orange Wine tasting with Didier of Les Caves De Pyrene. Made with various white wine grapes, Orange Wine is made by the grapes spending some maceration time in contact with the grape skins. The result, an intriguing array of flavours. What you will taste- five different wines from five different Italian wine regions. Food from our new aperitivo menu will also be available. Tickets- £25.

Meet the Winemakers

On 12th March, The Hive on Vyner Street will be hosting a natural wine tasting with artisanal Northern Italian wine maker Rocco di Carpeneto. This event coincides with the RAW Wine Festival, a celebration of natural wines, taking place in London on 12th and 13th March.

Join winery owners Lidia and Paolo from 7-9pm as they talk through the three wines they have chosen to showcase.  Tickets cost £10 for a flight of three, and are available in store or online (http://thehivewellbeing.eventbrite.com).

Rocco di Carpeneto is a boutique organic winery located amidst the Alto Monferrato hills in Northern Italy. Their wine production is focused on grapes native to Piedmont such as dolcetto, barbera, cortese, nebbiolo and albarossa. They are a member of the Italian Association for Independent Wine Makers.

Food from The Hive’s vegetarian aperitivo menu will also be available throughout the night and the fully organic aperitivo menu is designed to compliment the natural wines served.

Join us Friday evening of the 26th of February and explore Foradori wine.

Didier Cappa of Les caves des pyrene will take us on a journey. At Les caves des pyrene they list wines that reflect the peculiarities and strengths of their region - their terroir. But equally as important, they endevour to list wine that reflects the way we drink - with food, with friends, listening to music, watching a sunset, smelling the sea air… because drinking wine is primarily a reason for having fun.

We’ll be showcasing four wines on the evening.

Provide a practical education on preservation of your being through holistic wellness. 

 

THE SPACES

Studio Society is located within the popular Vyner Street artist quarter in the heart of East London. It was originally built as part of a fabric factory in the 60’s, and has now been transformed into a beautiful photographic studio and event space. With high ceilings, large skylight, polished concrete floor, white brickwork and its mid-century modern danish furnishings, this self-contained space has a charming intimate ambiance and a perfect setting for the Wellness Day. 

The Hive of Vyner St’s 1000 square feet space is home to people who want to create, gather and consider possibilities of the world. The positive atmosphere promotes relaxation, comfort and genuine consideration of your presence in our café. We offer a dining experience designed to enhance your lifestyle. Focusing on simple organic food combinations to provide surprising flavours, textures and in turn – vitality. Our cold pressed juice detoxifies, our food nourishes, our coffee ignites the senses and our natural Italian wines warm the soul.

The Hive of Vyner St has recently hosted a number of events including sold out Bee Kind & Dine bee friendly dinner, Nebbiolo Wine Tasting with Passione Vino and Buzzing @ The Hive vinyl, food and wine evening. The space lends itself to a range of gatherings - namely ones with wellbeing at the core. This will be where our breakfast tasting, shared lunch and evening wine will take place.

TUTTO ORANGE WINE TASTING

Join us Friday evening of the 22nd of January and explore the mysterious Orange Wine.

Damiano of Tutto Wines will take us on a journey of the increasingly popular Orange Wine. We will take a look into the history of this wine style and why it has gained popularity in recent times. 

We’ll be showcasing four wines from different regions of Italy made from local grape varieties. The goal is to show the strong identity that these wines have. Not just through the process in which they are made, but also the influence that each unique terroir has on them. 

The first two wines come from Marsala and the Carso, two places that benefit from a strong influence of the sea, whereas the second 2 wines come from mountain areas Lake Bolsena and Irpinia. Although the wine-making is similar, it will be interesting to see the difference in colour, smell and taste between the four wines.

WHAT YOU WILL TASTE

NINO BARRACO, CATARRATTO 2014 (MARSALA, SICILY)

While Catarratto is a grape found over much of Western Sicily, Nino’s is from a unique part of Marsala with lively, pitch black soils. The resulting wine is a wonderfully smoky, salty take on this often underappreciated grape.

 

MATEJ SKERLJ, VITOVSKA 2012 (CARSO, FRIULI)

Vitovska is a grape that seems to give an almost literal translation of the Carso. The wine shimmers with minerals, as if it were chisseled out of the rock below. This is a drink with a remarkable sense of place.

 

LE COSTE, BIANCO 2013 (GRADOLI, LAZIO)

This is Procanico, Malvasia and a swag of heirloom varietals from older vines up to 40 years old. It sees enough time on skins to lend wonderful flesh and grip and is aged for one year in botti. Persistent and precise with a wonderful structure.

 

CANTINA GIARDINO, GRECO T’ ARA RA` 2013 (IRPINIA, CAMPANIA)

T’ ara rà is Greco from one of the highest vineyards in Campania at 500 metres above sea level. Some time on skins lends grip, while a few months on lees offers flesh. A more neutral grape, this is a pure expression of site, full of grit and smoke.

We are collaborating with East London’s new go-to spot for cold pressed juice and organic eating, The Hive Wellbeing. Join us for a conscious, vegetarian dining experience that fuses our bee-friendly menu with The Hive’s healthy juices and natural wines, after a short talk that highlights the plight of our honeybees.

Please note that drinks are not included in the ticket price and will be available for purchase at the bar. Seating is communal.

We aim to cater for most dietary requirements. Please contact us once you’ve booked your tickets to let us know if you, or any of your party, require a vegan or gluten free menu.

All the profits from the evening's event will be donated to bee-friendly causes, charities or organisations.

We combine simple organic produce and biodynamic live foods without sacrificing the amazing flavours of the earth. Your experience with us will leave you surprised, your taste buds tantalised and your being - content. It’s our mission to give East London a paradise of healthy living through foods and beverages that give long after they’ve hit your lips. We’ve created an open space with beautiful raw wood materials that make your time in The Hive a memorable one. 

Come by to enjoy how good ‘healthy’ can actually taste and feel with our set menu. We take you through a myriad of flavours from start to finish, with complementing drinks if you wish to indulge.
